The recent geopolitical events, such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine, have exacerbated these issues. The conflict has disrupted agricultural markets and trade flows, increasing the costs of energy and fertilisers and impacting food security globally.

The Importance of addressing Food Security
Tackling food security is not only about ensuring that everyone has enough to eat. It also plays a crucial role in combating climate change. Locally grown food requires less energy for transportation and less packaging material. Organic farming reduces the need for fertilizers, which are significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Seasonal local produce also reduces the need for refrigeration, saving energy.
Furthermore, local food production can empower communities by teaching valuable skills and promoting active participation in sustainable agricultural practices. This knowledge will become increasingly essential as climate change continues to impact global agriculture.
Introducing Food Pyramids:
The Educational Card Game
We have developed Food Pyramids, an educational card game to engage people in learning about food security and encourage practical action. This game aims to make learning about food security fun and interactive, helping players understand the issues and discover practical solutions.
Food Pyramids focuses on the concept of the 'FoodPrint,' which represents the positive impact of learning and acting on food security issues. Unlike the environmental 'Footprint,' which denotes negative impact, FoodPrint emphasizes the constructive changes we can make once we are equipped with the right knowledge.
